Better understanding mothers. Building better ways to support them.
Grounded Momma Collective works with organisations that want to understand maternal wellbeing differently and translate that understanding into meaningful support, programmes and change.
Maternal distress can present in many different ways.
Overwhelm, anxiety, irritability, emotional exhaustion, shutdown, difficulty switching off, feeling depleted, disconnected or unable to cope with demands that once felt manageable.
Support understandably often begins with what a mother is experiencing, but we're interested in another question too...
Grounded Momma Collective is developing Motherhood Capacity™ as a way of exploring the relationship between the demands placed upon mothers and the psychological, emotional and relational capacity available to meet them.
Our aim is to contribute to better understanding, earlier recognition and more responsive maternal support.
Grounded Momma Collective brings together psychological research, maternal mental health practice, lived and community insight and direct work with mothers.
Develop or deliver psychologically informed maternal wellbeing programmes and targeted support.
This may include community programmes, preventative provision, group support, workshops and tailored interventions.
Explore maternal overwhelm, capacity and the demands affecting mothers within your workforce, service or community.
Potential work includes insight, consultation, workshops and the application of emerging Motherhood Capacity™ principles.
Bring maternal lived experience and psychological insight into research, service development and evaluation.
This can include consultation, qualitative insight, programme evaluation, evidence gathering and collaborative research.
Grounded Momma Movement CIC is the social-impact arm of Grounded Momma Collective.
It exists to help increase access to trauma-informed maternal mental health support beyond private individual provision, particularly through community programmes, funded projects, partnerships and collaborative delivery.
Our developing work focuses on mothers experiencing overwhelm, isolation, psychological distress, trauma and reduced access to appropriate support.
Through the CIC, we're interested in working with partners to design, fund, pilot and evaluate accessible maternal wellbeing provision within communities.
Interested in funding or partnering on community provision?
Motherhood Capacity™ is an emerging framework being developed by Grounded Momma Collective to explore a simple but important question...
Rather than viewing overwhelm only through individual symptoms or coping behaviours, the framework explores the wider relationship between:
Demands • Capacity • Depletion • Support • Survival responses • Recovery
Its development is being informed by psychological and maternal-health literature, direct work with mothers, qualitative insight and ongoing research.
Motherhood Capacity™ is currently an emerging framework rather than a validated clinical or psychometric model.
We are actively developing its evidence base and we're interested in research, academic and evaluation partnerships that can contribute to its continued development.
We welcome conversations with organisations interested in maternal mental health, prevention, wellbeing, research, community support and social impact.

We don't believe maternal wellbeing support should be one-size-fits-all.
Where appropriate, work can be developed around the needs of the mothers, communities or workforce you are trying to support.
Grounded Momma Collective's work sits at the intersection of psychology, maternal mental health, trauma, research and lived motherhood.
Founder Charlotte Hamilton holds a BSc in Psychology and MRes in Neuropsychology & Rehabilitation, with research experience including parental stress and neuropsychological rehabilitation.
Her practice draws upon experience across mental-health mentoring, counselling, DBT, somatic approaches, breathwork and trauma-informed work.
We're developing an evidence base that also draws directly from conversations with mothers, assessment work, audience research and lived experience.
Community Maternal Wellbeing
Accessible preventative and early-intervention support for mothers who may otherwise struggle to access appropriate provision.
Workplace Motherhood & Capacity
Understanding the pressures experienced by working mothers and exploring psychologically informed approaches to maternal wellbeing at work.
Research & Motherhood Capacity™
Academic, evaluation and research partnerships interested in maternal overload, capacity, psychological wellbeing and the further development of Motherhood Capacity™.
Funded Pilots & Social Impact
Opportunities to test, evaluate and develop maternal wellbeing provision through Grounded Momma Movement CIC.
You don't need to have a finished programme, brief or proposal before getting in touch.
If your organisation is interested in supporting mothers differently, improving maternal wellbeing, developing community provision or exploring the ideas behind Motherhood Capacity™, we'd be happy to start with a conversation.
